Can you believe that we are almost half way through the 2025 school year already?! It’s been a time of reflection and forward planning for us at Alyangula Area School, and last week we came together as a school to acknowledge and celebrate Reconciliation Week. Through a series of thoughtful and engaging activities across all year levels and break times, students explored this year’s theme and deepened their understanding of our shared history and the importance of working together for a better future. It was wonderful to witness the respectful conversations, creative expressions, and genuine learning that took place throughout the week.
Our teachers are now in the final stages of compiling Semester One reports. These reports are a reflection of your child’s progress, learning, and achievements across the semester. They provide valuable insights into both academic growth and personal development. Reports will be distributed to students on Tuesday 17th June 2025, to take home. We encourage you to take time to read through them and celebrate your child’s efforts and successes.
A huge thank you to our Student Representative Council for organising the Term 2 Special Lunch. It was a great success, with 95 lunches sold and $415 raised, which will go directly towards resourcing our exciting Pop-Up Playground project. We appreciate the SRC’s leadership and commitment to improving our school for all.
We’re excited to announce that our Senior Years students will soon commence their VET block delivery in Certificate I and II in Kitchen Operations. As part of this hands-on program, students will be working towards establishing and managing a school-based café. This initiative will see daily food items available for purchase by students, staff, and community members. Stay tuned to our social media platforms for daily specials and updates – we can’t wait to see this program come to life!
We continue to reinforce the importance of regular attendance. While we understand that students may need to stay home when unwell, we ask families to consider the long-term impact of non-essential absences, especially when planning family trips or holidays off Eylandt. Every day of learning counts, and consistent attendance plays a crucial role in academic and social development.
There are just two weeks remaining in Term 2. The final day of the term will be Friday 20th June, and we will welcome students back to school on Tuesday 15th July, after a three-week break. Let’s make the most of these remaining weeks as we wrap up a successful and productive Semester One.
Please remember that this coming Monday is a public holiday in recognition of the King’s Birthday. We hope you enjoy the long weekend with your families.

In the Classroom - 7/8/9M
On Wednesday, the students in the two 7/8/9 classes and their teachers started this years ‘Push Up Challenge’. Across 23 days, between June 4th and 23rd, all involved will be aiming to do 3 214 push ups to raise awareness and funds for mental health in Australia. The target for day one was a whopping 120 push ups but this didn’t phase anyone – all the students rose to the challenge and got straight to work!
If you happen to see any of our participants doing their push ups, please send words of encouragement their way and even join in if you’d like! Keep an eye out for updates to see how our students and teachers going.
If you would like to donate, we have chosen Headspace as the beneficiary of any funds raised by our team. Headspace centres and services operate across Australia, in metro, regional and rural areas, supporting young people in Australia and their families to be mentally healthy and engaged in their communities. Donations can be made via the QR code below, which will also be displayed around the school.
We thank you in advance for all the support we know all come our way.
Alyangula Area School Council are looking for a parent representative to lead a fundraising subcommittee.
The idea is to have a school presence at markets and other community events throughout the year. In addition to raising funds for the school it also provides a great opportunity to be involved in both the school and local community.
Please contact the school on 08 8987 6366 or email alyangula.admin@education.nt.gov.au regarding further information.
